Mr Parminder Singh has a special interest in hip and knee arthroscopy and joint replacement. He works at Bellbird Private Hospital, St Vincent Private East Melbourne, Epworth Eastern Private Hospital, Maroondah Hospital, and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Monash University in Melbourne. Mr Singh joined Hip Arthroscopy Australia in 2013.
Mr Singh qualified as a doctor from St George’s Hospital Medical School in London in 1996 obtaining his MBBS. Following this he completed a surgical training programme in London and obtained his MRCS in 2001. He subsequently undertook a research registrar position for two years providing supportive research on the design and early clinical evaluation of new hip replacements and completed his Master of Surgery (MS) thesis at the University of London. He was appointed on the prestigious Oxford Specialist Registrar Orthopaedic Training Programme in 2003 and completed his orthopaedic training in 2008. Whilst completing his orthopaedic training in Oxford, he was also an Honorary Oxford Student Lecturer appointed by the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and was the Oxford University Varsity Soccer match doctor.
In 2008 to 2009, Mr Singh completed his Hip Arthroscopy and Anterior Muscle Sparing Total Hip Replacement Fellowship in Melbourne with Dr John O’Donnell. He returned to the Elective Orthopaedic Centre in Epsom which was the highest volume joint replacement centre in the United Kingdom and completed his second fellowship in Hip Arthroscopy and Bone Conserving Joint Replacement Surgery with Dr Richard Field. He was appointed a Consultant at the Elective Orthopaedic Centre in 2009 and migrated with his wife and two children to Melbourne in 2010.
Mr Singh has published his own textbook “100 cases in Orthopaedics and Rheumatolgy”, is currently an editor of the Oxford textbook of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery, section editor for hip surgery and published a book on Hip Arthroscopy. He has published numerous papers in peer review scientific journals and a number of book chapters in prestigious textbooks such as Bailey and Love. Mr Singh is a reviewer of scientific papers for British Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and is on the editorial subcommittee for the International Society of Hip Arthroscopy.
Mr Singh regularly presents at National and International orthopaedic meetings and has been an active faculty member co-running instructional hip arthroscopy courses with Hip Arthroscopy Australia for orthopaedic surgeons and physiotherapists in Melbourne since 2009.
